Study, Work, Live in Australia
Australia has been colonized for above 42,000 years by aboriginal Australians, following the periodic visits of fishermen from Europe and discovery of Dutch voyagers in 1606. Later in 1770, the eastern part of Australia was claimed by British who transported convicts to New South Wales in 1788. Many of the first settlers were thus British convicts. Free settlers arrived in increasing numbers, particularly after the discovery of gold in the mid-19th century.
In 19th century, another five colonies were explored. On 1 January 1901, Australia was formed with the federation of 6 colonies. Since then it has maintained a constant liberal democratic political system. Canberra is the capital city located in Australian Capital Territory (ACT ) and population is approx. 21,511,788 as in March 2009. Among them 60% has concentrated in and around the state capitals of Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. Today, 99% of the population is of European or Asian descent.
Why Australian Education
The excellence in Education, the multicultural background of students, value for money, English speaking country and on top of that, Governmental and institution support for international students are some other aspects that has made Australia a very attractive destination for students from all over the world.
One excellent advantage for Indian students is the similarity between Indian and Australian education systems, which are broadly patterned on the British education system. Therefore, it is easier for admission into any level without the hassle of credential evaluation, university review of qualifications etc. Also, because of flexibility in their education system, students who have completed two years of Bachelors/Diploma could enroll directly into the 2ndor 3rdyear of Bachelor’s program in Australian institutions. Australian degrees are recognized by the Association of Indian Universities for purposes of government employment and further education in an Indian university.

Permanent Residency
Permanent Residency (PR) in Australia is similar to the Green Card in USA where a person can retain ones nationality to live and work in the country. After completion of their 2 years educational program in Australia, international students can apply for Australia PR. Else one have to accomplish the course along with the occupation category accumulating to 2 years, which will be assessed to secure 120 points (which was previous 60 points) as an eligibility to clear the pass mark for Permanent Residency. In the mid of 1999, the government of Australia has stated that students with a diploma from the universities or business college can get the citizenship of the country.
